As part of our efforts to seek out centers of excellence for media algorithms we met with a company last week called Signal Innovations Group, SIG  http://www.siginnovations.com/about.html whose co-founders are Dr. Paul Runkle and Dr. Larry Carin.  Dr. Carin is also a professor at Duke University and has a large group of post doc students who research new, cutting edge media algorithms, some of which make it over to SIG for commercialization.  We were interested in the work SIG has done with the government and algorithms that work with video taken from an altitude such as that taken from UAVs.  Their work and algorithms appear to be both cutting edge and robust enough for production use and we plan on developing a formal relationship with SIG to enable our customers access to their technology.
